Too much excitment
So it was a nice quite sunny Wednesday morning,, Basset wanted out the back door. So I opened her cat door and she scooted out. Back to my table with my coffee.
In short order I hear major hissing and a thundering Basset hauling cat butt back into the kitchen. Now on linoleum cats don’t have real good traction, so the first thing she hit was the water bowl while in a left hand body slide, Water everywhere. In the mean time Tiny comes hauling out from under the couch to see what is going on!! They met at the door to the kitchen and both tired to jump the other!!! Tails fully inflated now and LOUD hissing and growling.. Tiny retreated to the couch post haste ( scariedy cat !! ) Basset ran into the dinning room and then quickly back to the cat door and back outside.. I tossed a kitchen towel on the spilled water bowl mess and opened the back door to see what Major Threat was after her in HER Yard. Nothing in sight.
So Tiny is not to be found and Bassett is back out on her table still fluffed up and growling. I did a quick visual scan of the yard, nothing, down at the end of the driveway, outside the fence, is a yellow cat looking back this way with that ‘What the hell?” look. When I shouted at it,, it wasted no time leaving the area.
So, 30 minutes later,, kitchen floor is dried now,, fresh water in the bowl, Bassett is napping in her chair, and Tiny? Beats me,, in her cave under the couch.
Whew,, hope no more elefalumps and woozles come around today, my heart can’t handle all that excitement.

First guess is too old an operating system on your stated older computer,, mine would not read the big storage devices and or,, your usb ports are the old style.. had that problem also.. this new computer will read any of them. New high speed USB ports and will read any of my scan disk .

Ok, now it is getting serious.. The dang skunk is hang around more now. I fear he/she has made a next/ den under my bedroom.
Yes, I have emailed Texas Game warden for suggestions or help.
I have also put out repellent. had not smelled him for a couple of days, but last night about midnight. WHEW he let go.. it was nice and quite here, tv off no noise to scare him,, just a sudden SMELL of Skunk :E
my fear now is that he has taken up residence in my under the house AC Ducts.
Does any one have any other serious Suggestions?

You seen the one about the guys in the pickup that hit a deer and knocked it out? They put it in the camper until they were out of sight and then one guy decided to go in and dress it out? Funny one also..

Windows XP is a computer operating system, NOT an internet browser. Did you by chance mean IE? internet Explorer?

I learned something new today . Using Mozilla/ Firefox browser, I pasted in a UPS tracking number into the location space at top. Where you normally put in Http:// "whatever" . I took me to UPS tracking.. WAY Cool!! Didn't have to load UPS site first.

I buy ready made meals or entrees on occasion, being alone it is just hard to cook for one.
Anyway,, I picked up a packaged meal endorsed and made by one of Paula Deans recipes.. Tasted ok, meat loaf with cheesy bits & mushroom gravy,, course had to add mushrooms to it. and find a side veggie dish or course
you tried any of her prepackaged meals? Comments? suggestions on the ones you have tried? Good or bad?
Get a new calendar yet?
So I was making up my little stickers to go on my wall calendar and realized I didn't have a new one for 09! Usually have several, from different companies that mail them out..
Didn't get a one this year,, not even from my investment guy!!! Course he is probably as broke as I am this year after the Stock market down turn.. The no Avon one I understand since I haven't seen her since I don't buy from her, Ann always did.
So, did you get any new free calendars this year?
I stopped at Hobby Lobby and bought one, less than a buck.. LOL LOL LOL,, got it home and it is the same scenes that had hung in my office all of last year!!! All tropical beach scenes.. So now I have my little stickers of birthdays,anniversaries , and what not all printed out and will spend a little time putting them on the right dates.

Well, after talking to a semi retired farmer working at Tractor, he suggested I go to another store and get some high priced stuff.. When I read the ingredients it was basically granular mothballs and other stuff. So I got another container of Snake Away.. sprinkled it around and so far no skunks.. it smells like mothballs and I know it works on Snakes, so will keep you advised.

may sound simplistic, but to quit dwelling on the past things that I can not change (like the lost of my wife to cancer) And to get out more and see people and travel. Try to live more by my motto.

Sorry for the quality, they have been hanging on the fridge for years in their lamination.Wife had laminated them a long time ago. I scanned them and put them up for you to hopefully get a chuckle out of.

RE: What resolution should I use for scanning this film/slides?
Personally I always scan them higher density than I probably need.. That way you can always downsize them later ,, up sizing don't work well .. the advice you got from John sounds right to me.
